House Story

Kenwood Academy, in its own words.

Some schools give you an education. Others become part of your identity. Kenwood Academy has always been both.

Nestled in the heart of Hyde Park, a neighborhood celebrated for its rich cultural diversity and longstanding commitment to education, Kenwood has shaped generations of thinkers, creators, leaders, entrepreneurs, artists, educators, and innovators. Around here, excellence has never worn just one face—and neither have the Broncos who proudly call this place home.

Kenwood has always had its own energy.

It was the school where Fashion Club shows became campus events. Where Concert Choir performances were experiences. Where students expressed themselves with confidence, style, and individuality. Around Chicago, people often say your high school becomes part of who you are. Broncos have always understood exactly what that means.

Ask a Bronco about Kenwood, and chances are you’ll hear stories long before you’ll hear statistics. Stories about classmates who became professors, executives, entrepreneurs, artists, scientists, broadcasters, and community leaders. Stories about unforgettable teachers, lifelong friendships, and the unmistakable pride that comes with saying, “I’m a Bronco.”

There is a reason Kenwood has earned such a lasting place in Chicago’s story. Quite simply…

Kenwood is that school.

5015 House exists to celebrate that legacy while helping write its next chapter.

Welcome home, Bronco.

Nefertari Edge returns to the school that shaped her — not as a visitor, but as a Founder. In this cover story, she reflects on Kenwood Academy, the Class of 1996, and what it means to believe first.

The Yearbook

Remember who you were. Preserve what the place meant.

The Yearbook is a living, curated archive of school memory — not a scanned yearbook, directory, or nostalgia gallery. The first edition is 1996: Thirty Years Later.

Before the group chat, there was the hallway. Before the feed, there was the yearbook.
